InvisibleRealmsFactions

Quick notes.

Fey Factions

Seelie and Unseelie Courts largely follow Scottish folklore, with more benevolent and playful fey among the Seelie court, and the Unseelie court being more malevolent and dangerous. Incurious the Hussars have to respond to are usually solitary or wild fey, though either court may decide to disrupt human activities significantly.

Mars

Mars has not yet invaded, but since the Great War, sightings of flying saucers have increased.

Werewolves

Lycanthropy is a supernatural affliction, whose origin is as of yet unknown. The organization of these night creatures is generally tribal and loose, with notable individuals infecting and attracting other werewolves to their packs.

Dracula

No one knows what happened to the Count after his last rise from the dead in the late 1890s.

Great Dragons of Europe

This is the last age of dragon slayers, with dragons more metaphorical than literal, but literal dragons still survive to this age. Ancient dragons are known to slumber somewhere beneath Britain and Prussia, and there are likely others. Legends tell of great serpents in the Aztec Empire, and winged beasts dwelled beneath the seas in Indonesia. These creatures may become allies or enemies of the Hussars, and have agendas of their own. They may be solitary and isolated, or may begin to meddle in the affairs of nation-states.

The Great Game of Immortals

If you're familiar with the Highlander series, this is canon in this setting (see the original FF IX). It is most likely you will interact with the MacLeods, if any other active clans of immortals are in the Isles they are obscure and unknown. The Hussars are unfamiliar with their rites, as well as their weaknesses. On the other hand, "decapitate or completely obliterate" is something they are often already quite good at.

The Gods

Other gods exist. While Abrahamic religion and their shared deity is the prominent religion in the civilized world, Pagan pantheons of ancient times, primordial spirits, and other deities still influence the world. While it is unlikely divine intervention will create a mission for the Hussars, it is not unheard of. Someone great, wealthy, or influential making a tremendous dedication or sacrifice to an otherwise forgotten god could create all manner of supernatural chaos.
